String metal shelf with high edge is a shelf from Swedish String. It is part of the modular String System, which was designed by Nisse Strinning in 1949 and is designed to be adapted to the room and needs. The shelf is made of perforated metal with a 7 cm edge. It is available in widths of 58 cm and 78 cm and in depths of 20 cm and 30 cm. The assembly takes place in wire or plexiglass end caps of the corresponding depth, and the shelf can be easily moved and combined with other parts in the collection. The high edge creates a visual frame and provides space to hide smaller objects. The perforated surface works together with accessories such as hooks, rods and spears, which makes the shelf flexible in use – regardless of whether it is placed in the kitchen, hallway or study.
