Bascule Ottoman is a footstool from Swiss manufacturer Vitra, designed by Berlin-based Studio Πas part of the Bascule series. It is designed to be paired with the Bascule Highback and Lowback lounge chairs, providing comfortable support for the legs in a relaxed seating position.
Like the lounge chairs, Bascule Ottoman is characterised by soft upholstery and a loose-fitting, removable fabric cover. Studio Πdrew inspiration from tailoring techniques used in fashion, where materials and construction work together to provide freedom of movement. The cover can be removed for professional cleaning or replaced, making it possible to refresh the look over time. Creases and minor pressure marks may occur as a natural result of the soft upholstery and relaxed fit of the cover. Bascule Ottoman features a four-star swivel base in die-cast aluminium with a powder-coated or blasted finish. Together with the lounge chair, the footstool forms a cohesive whole in which materials, proportions and function follow the same carefully considered principles. The Bascule series also includes Highback, Lowback and Bench.
