Danielle Siggerud 1989
Danielle Siggerud, born in 1989 in Oslo, is a Norwegian architect and designer based in Copenhagen. She is known for a design language that combines Scandinavian simplicity with international sophistication, where light, proportions, and materials are always central.
She studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, and later moved to London, where she worked with architect John Pawson, renowned for his minimalist approach. This experience proved decisive for her perspective on proportions, materials, and space. In 2016, she founded her own studio in Copenhagen, which today operates internationally within furniture design, interiors, and architecture.
A design language built on simplicity and precision
Siggerud’s design is characterized by restraint and clarity of expression. She often works with stone, wood, and metal, allowing the natural qualities of the materials to take center stage. Light and spatial proportions play a key role in her work, resulting in furniture and environments that are both enduring and relevant. Her design language combines functionality with a strong aesthetic presence, making her work equally at home in private residences and public spaces.
Her approach to sustainability is evident. Materials are used respectfully and without waste, resulting in works of lasting quality, with both aesthetic and functional durability.
One of Siggerud’s most acclaimed works is the Androgyne Table, originally designed for a café project and later developed for Audo Copenhagen. The table is a clear example of her philosophy: a piece where function meets sculptural form, and where the purity of materials is fully expressed. Today, the series includes several variations and has established itself as a modern classic in contemporary design.
Furniture design in dialogue with architecture
Beyond furniture design, Siggerud runs an architectural practice with projects ranging from exclusive residences to commercial spaces and exhibition design. Here, her sensitivity to proportions, details, and spatiality becomes especially evident. Regardless of scale, her work conveys a studied precision and balance that ensures long-term durability.
Siggerud’s furniture is an extension of her architectural work. They function as strong formal elements in a space and are created for long-term use. By uniting traditional craftsmanship with modern precision, she creates pieces with enduring relevance.
