Virkelyst is an outdoor table from Fritz Hansen in Denmark, designed by design studio Says Who with Nikolaj Duve and Kasper Meldgaard. The table is part of the Virkelyst collection, characterised by clean lines, understated details and a modern design language. Its inspiration comes from 1950s Danish design, where Scandinavian simplicity and function meet a contemporary expression.
The table is made from teak and features a distinct geometric construction. The slatted tabletop rests on two square frames that create open spaces between the top and the base. This gives the construction a lighter character and creates an interesting interplay between solid elements and empty space. Virkelyst Table has a pared-back expression in which material and construction take centre stage. The straight lines and regular slats of the tabletop emphasise the simple geometry and connect with the other pieces in the collection. The table is designed for outdoor use and is suitable for both the terrace and garden, where it can be combined with other pieces from the Virkelyst collection.
