Peter J. Lassen 1930 – 2019

Peter J. Lassen began his career in the Danish furniture industry, working with some of the most influential designers, such as Arne Jacobsen and Verner Panton. These early experiences shaped his view on design – always focused on a perfect balance between form and function. In 1982, he realized his vision by founding Montana Furniture, where the modular and flexible shelving system became a central product line. These shelving systems, which allow users to create personalized configurations, quickly became popular and have since cemented their place as design classics.

Lassen was convinced that furniture should reflect the owner's style and needs, and Montana offers exactly that opportunity. Every part of Montana's system can be customized, from color choices to module arrangements, offering endless combinations and the freedom to create a personal home. With its playful yet functional design, their furniture is both timeless and modern. Explore storage furniture from Montana and other Scandinavian brands in our range.

Lassen’s legacy

Peter J. Lassen left behind a legacy characterized by innovation, simplicity, and the belief that good design should be both practical and personal. Through his unique design philosophy, Peter J. Lassen inspired many to think outside traditional boundaries and create solutions that not only serve a practical need but also contribute to a personal home. The modular structure and sleek aesthetics of the shelves allow users to create their own unique furniture – one of many reasons why Montana remains a globally popular brand.

Montana’s philosophy

Montana's design is built on the idea that everyone should be able to express their personality through their home. With over 40 different colors and a wide variety of modules to choose from, their shelving systems are as much a creative process as a practical solution. Peter J. Lassen strongly believed that freedom and personal expression are essential in design, and it is this philosophy that has made Montana a brand that continuously evolves and adapts to its customers' needs.
