In 1949, Hans J. Wegner and Carl Hansen & Søn began their decades-long collaboration. The following year, the now-famous CH25 armchair was launched alongside one of Danish design’s greatest icons – the CH24 Y-chair. It was also here that Wegner gained a lot of attention for his choice of material for the wicker seat. Here, he replaced the previously popular seaweed with waxed paper cord. This particular version of the classic armchair comes in solid oak with a black paper cord.
Both the designer and the brand are today synonymous with high quality and solid craftsmanship. The seat and back alone for the CH25 armchair requires almost 400 meters of cord, which also takes one of their most experienced craftsmen about 10 hours to complete. With us you will also find several different options for the wood, where you can choose between a black lacquered, white oiled, soaped, oiled or clear lacquered surface treatment. This makes it easy to find exactly the right design for you and your home.
