Baia Chair is a chair designed by Kensaku Oshiro in 2021, where influences from Danish and Japanese design come together in a balanced and thoughtfully crafted expression. The semi-circular backrest, inspired by a bay, provides a soft contrast to the chrome-plated steel frame and gives the chair its distinctive character.

The chrome-plated steel frame is constructed using an advanced welding process in which flat steel in the seat frame is combined with slender, curved steel tubes. The subtly rounded leg ends and the short distance between the front legs highlight the lines of the rear legs and create a visual symmetry, where vertical and horizontal elements are balanced with precision. The backrest is upholstered in black leather and carefully hand-stitched, resulting in a soft and supple surface. The padded seat, also upholstered in black leather, provides excellent comfort and reinforces the chair’s cohesive aesthetic. The combination of chrome and leather gives Baia Chair a distinct material presence and a calm, elegant character within the space.
