Aalto 160 mm is designed by Alvar Aalto for the brand Iittala. The designer's unique asymmetrical wave shapes, known as "aalto" in Finnish, became famous worldwide after winning a design award at the 1937 Paris World Exhibition. Inspired by the thousands of lakes in Aalto's childhood Finland, these shapes have become iconic in Scandinavian interior design, combining both form and function. Aalto vases are made through a meticulous multi-step process at Iittala's glassworks. Each vase is mouth-blown from crystal glass, then hand-cut and undergoes an extensive polishing process.
