Lucia Eames Sunbirds Charcoal Jute Rug

Sunbirds Natural is a jute rug from the Spanish brand Nanimarquina. The rug is designed based on Lucia Eames' studies of nature, where organic shapes have been transferred to a graphic composition with a line that is related to calligraphy. A central motif spreads across the surface and creates a contemporary interpretation of traditional rugs.

The rug is made of 100% hand-woven jute, where the braided parts are joined with hand-sewn seams. The method provides control over the details and allows the structure and natural variations in tone of the jute fibers to emerge. Jute is a biodegradable and recyclable natural fiber that can contribute to coolness during warmer periods and insulation during the rest of the year. The jute rug has a total height of 7 mm and a density of 13,950 yarns per square meter.
