ES18 2 Salt & Pepper Castor

ES18 is a spice mill from the Italian brand Alessi. Designed by Ettore Sottsass, it is part of the Alessi 100 Values Collection and began production in 2021. The mill is made of beech wood and consists of overlapping volumes in pink, red and yellow, a recurring element in Sottsass's design.

It functions as a salt, pepper and spice mill and is intended for use both in the kitchen and at the dining table. It is manufactured in Italy, close to Alessi, through a partially handmade turning process. The natural grain, knots and variations of the wood mean that each piece has individual differences in the expression of the material. The spice mill can be used during cooking on the kitchen counter or placed on the table to grind salt, pepper and other spices directly when serving.
