Riviera is a cushion from Fritz Hansen in Denmark, designed for the Riviera Sunbed, which was created in 1991 in collaboration with Danish designer Povl B. Eskildsen. The Riviera collection is characterised by a pared-back expression and a flexible construction that allows the furniture’s form and functionality to adapt to different uses.
Riviera is tailored to fit the sunbed and can be folded to follow its various positions. The reverse features a non-slip fabric that helps keep the cushion in place. The upholstery is Oeko-Tex-certified, colourfast and lightfast, as well as water- and dirt-repellent and resistant to mould. The cushion’s foam has an open-cell structure that allows water and air to pass through, resulting in a short drying time after rain. The foam has a firm, comfortable feel and is designed to retain its structure over time. Povl B. Eskildsen’s design is based on the interplay between form and function, an approach reflected in the versatile construction of the Riviera series. A separate version with flame-retardant cold foam is also available for the UK market; this version is not weather-resistant.
