More from New Mags
This book is part of the first complete survey of Hilma af Klint's artistic career and collects works from the period after 1920.
Hilma af Klint (1862–1944) is today considered a pioneer in abstract art, with a visual language that predates Kandinsky, Mondrian and Malevich. Her works were often created in series and are thematically structured, which the seven-part catalogue series makes it possible to follow in its entirety.
The sixth volume focuses on the time after her mother's death, when af Klint left geometric expression behind and began working in watercolor. Among the motifs is the series On the Viewing of Flowers and Trees from 1922, where observations of nature and spiritual search interact in a new painterly approach.
