Japan Chair is a lamp from the series Japan designed in 1957 by Finn Juhl. Unlike many of Finn Juhl's earlier pieces, Japan Chair, and the other pieces in the series are characterized by sublime simplicity. This chair was designed with inspiration from traditional Japanese woodwork. The horizontal backrest rests on slightly tapered legs and is a reference to the doors of Japanese temples. The backrest is finished with a circular detail that adds an optically elegant touch. This is typical of Finn Juhl, who said that "the deviations are in the details". Despite the simple construction of the piece, Finn Juhl sticks to his idea of emphasizing the difference between the carcass and the caged elements by separating the backrest from the carcass with a masonry foot. Japan Chair is made of oak or walnut and has a hand-sewn fabric cover.

Japan Chair and the other furniture in the series are the result of a collaboration between Finn Juhl and the furniture manufacturer France & Son. The aim of the series was that they would lend themselves well to mass production while fitting the ideals of the 1950s. In 2007, House of Finn Juhl launched the Japan Chair and the rest of the series.
