Rituals 1 is a ceiling lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Ludovica+Roberto Palomba in 2015. The lamp is characterised by its elongated form and softly expressive surface, inspired by the atmospheric glow of Oriental rice paper lanterns.

The shade is made from blown glass and processed using a special technique that gives the surface its characteristic texture. The treatment of the material filters the light and creates a soft, subdued diffusion, while the shape of the glass remains clearly defined whether the lamp is switched on or off. The Rituals 1 ceiling lamp combines the solid character of blown glass with the visual lightness associated with traditional paper lanterns. The elongated silhouette gives the model a distinctive character and allows the diffused light to spread pleasantly throughout the room. The result is a contemporary ceiling lamp in which material, surface texture and lighting effect interact in a balanced whole.
