The Kaiser Idell Floor Lamp is a floor lamp from Danish Fritz Hansen. The lamp was designed in 1936 by Christian Dell, a German designer with a background in silversmithing and metalwork. Between 1922 and 1925, Dell was responsible for the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar, where he worked with the design language that came to be associated with modernism.
The floor lamp is characterized by geometric shapes and a design where an asymmetrical lampshade is combined with a narrow frame and an adjustable lamp head. The adjustable shade makes it possible to direct the light as needed and use the floor lamp for both general lighting and task lighting. The design makes the model suitable as a reading lamp next to an armchair or sofa, but also as directional lighting in other parts of the home. The lamp represents Christian Dell's work with Bauhaus design, where geometric shapes, materials and technical construction form the basis for the lamp's function and expression.
