Lumiere is a table lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni in 1990. The design is a contemporary interpretation of the classic bedside lamp, giving familiar proportions a more pared-back and distinctive expression.
The softly shaped shade in blown glass is combined with a characteristic three-legged aluminium base. The contrast between the rounded volume of the glass and the clean-lined metal base is central to Lumiere and gives the lamp a balanced silhouette. At the same time, the materials serve different visual functions: the glass encloses and diffuses the light, while the aluminium base gives the construction a distinct graphic character. The Lumiere table lamp provides a warm and pleasant light and comes with a dimmer, making it easy to adjust the brightness according to the setting and placement. The combination of blown glass, aluminium and the recognisable three-legged form has made Lumiere a recurring part of Foscarini’s collection since its launch in 1990.
