Born Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, but more commonly known under the pseudonym Le Corbusier, he was one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. His radical ideas ranged from private villas to mass housing projects. His work evolved markedly through the years, from houses in Switzerland to dynamic art, the chapel in Ronchamp and the housing project in Chandigarh, India. Le Corbusier is famous for his ability to combine functionalist ambitions with a strong taste for expressionism and a broad and empathetic approach to urban planning.
