Imbuto floor lamp

Imbuto is a floor lamp designed by Luigi Caccia Dominioni in 1953. The name means funnel in Italian and refers to the conical lampshade. Together with the slender stem it gives the lamp its pared-back and characteristic silhouette.

The inspiration came from everyday objects and their basic forms. The lamp was originally intended to be called ”Flute” in reference to the tall and slender champagne glass. The finished design brings together associations with the simple funnel and the elegant glass. This reflects Caccia Dominioni’s approach to uniting the everyday with the more refined. The conical shade is made of metal and casts generous soft light around the lamp. Imbuto combines clean geometry with a discreet presence and can provide both functional lighting and an atmospheric glow. Its minimalist design allows the lamp to blend into a room while retaining a distinctive character of its own.
