Big Bang is a pendant lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Vicente Garcia Jimenez and Enrico Franzolini in 2005. The lamp is characterised by a dynamic composition of intersecting panels that extend in different directions, creating an architectural structure with a strong spatial presence.
The overlapping planes create a sculptural interplay of surfaces, light and shadow. When Big Bang is switched on, the different layers of the structure are highlighted, and the light changes depending on the viewing angle. The irregular geometry gives the pendant lamp a distinctive expression even when switched off. Big Bang is available in two dimmable versions. One is designed for a replaceable R7S light source, sold separately. The other features an integrated LED at 3000 K and can be dimmed via PUSH or DALI. PUSH allows the light to be adjusted using a momentary push button, while DALI enables the lamp to be connected to a compatible lighting control system.
