Front Design

Front Design is a Swedish design duo founded in 2004 by Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren. Their products often convey a story to the viewer about the design process, the material it is made from, or conventions within the design field. Their work is characterized by a playful approach to materials and forms, which has made them one of the most influential design groups in contemporary Scandinavian design.

Famous Creations with Major Brands

Front Design is known for its creative and often unexpected design solutions. One of their most famous works is the "Horse Lamp," a lamp shaped like a natural horse, combining function and art in a unique way. Their work reflects a deep understanding of both materials and technology, and they often experiment with new manufacturing methods and unusual materials. This innovative approach has led to collaborations with several major brands such as Moroso and Moooi.

Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly Design

Front Design's work is also marked by a strong awareness of sustainability. They strive to create products that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally friendly and long-lasting. An example of this is their project "Design by Nature," where they explore how natural processes can be integrated into design. By using technology such as 3D printing and robotics, they have managed to create objects that are both innovative and respectful of the environment.

Collaboration with Gebrüder Thonet Vienna

One of their most notable collaborations is with the historic furniture company Gebrüder Thonet Vienna. Together, they have created a series of furniture that combines Thonet's classic bentwood technique with Front's modern and experimental design philosophy. This includes the stylish dining chair N.0 and the timeless Arch Coffee Table Glass. The result is a collection that celebrates both tradition and innovation and has received great acclaim in the design world.
