Casa Dalí, Coco Capitán Photo Book

This book documents Salvador Dalí's home in Portlligat, which served as the artist's permanent residence and workplace from the 1930s until his death. The photographs by Coco Capitán show interiors and exteriors in an environment where everyday life and artistic work merge. Among the motifs are the iconic sofa shaped after Mae West's mouth, Dalí's collection of stuffed animals and traces of the daily work in the studio. Works such as The Persistence of Memory were painted here, in the light and landscape that often recur in Dalí's painting.

The architect Oscar Tusquets Blanca contributes a foreword about his close friendship with the artist. His text places the house in relation to a life characterized by creativity and self-staging. Coco Capitán's newly written poem frames the book, whose visual material captures the special character of the place.

The book provides a rare insight into a surrealist home characterized by both stillness and movement.
