Scandinavian Pira was founded in 2023. The design brand offers modern interpretations of true design classics, including Swedish interior architect Olle Pira's iconic Pira G2 shelving system. The furniture has an exclusive and timeless design with high functionality and flexibility. With their elegant and architectural expression, they become instant eye-catchers in the room. In the design process, Pira collaborates with several award-winning designers, including architect Anna von Schewen and industrial designer Björn Dahlström.

Olle Pira

Olle Pira was born in 1927 in Karlskrona, Sweden and was one of the foremost Swedish furniture designers of the 20th century. He studied at the Higher School of Arts and Crafts (now Konstfack) and later ran his own architectural practice. From 1982-1992, Olle Pira was the headmaster of Carl Malmsten's workshop school. He is best known for the iconic Pira G2 shelving system, which attracted considerable international attention.

Pira G2 - A modern interpretation of the design classic

Pira G2 is a modern interpretation of Olle Pira's design classic from 1955. The shelving system was originally designed specifically for the iconic H55 design exhibition. Pira, together with Anna von Schewen and Björn Dahlström, has since designed an updated version using modern materials. Made of walnut or white oak with lacquered sheet steel shelves and extruded aluminium posts, the shelving system has an elegant yet robust design where the wood material balances out the hard metal and gives a warmer impression. Thanks to the modular design, you can build the shelving system exactly the way you want. Either against a wall or free-standing as a room divider with a floor-to-ceiling installation.
