Our selection of bar stools

The range of bar stools, counter stools and other high stools is available in several designs to meet different needs. You can choose between models with or without a backrest. Bar stools without a backrest can be a more discreet option that can easily be tucked under a countertop. For longer periods of sitting, there are bar stools with backrests that provide stable support and are designed for daily use. Choosing the right height is essential for good ergonomics.

A general guideline is that the distance between the top of the seat and the underside of the tabletop should be approximately 30 centimetres. This allows for an ergonomic seating position at a kitchen island or bar table. Standard heights for bar stools are often 65 cm for kitchen islands and lower bar tables, or 75 cm for higher bar tables. Several models feature adjustable height, providing flexibility for different table heights. In addition, there are bar stools with integrated footrests that relieve pressure on the legs and increase comfort.

Materials and finishes for bar stools

The choice of materials affects the bar stool’s appearance, durability and practical qualities. In NO GA’s range, bar stools and counter stools are available in a variety of materials, suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments

Solid wood, such as oak or walnut, is commonly used and provides a stable construction with a distinct material character. Wooden surfaces can be oiled or lacquered. Oiled finishes highlight the grain of the wood and develop a patina over time, while lacquered surfaces offer more durable protection and are easier to clean.

Metal is often used in frames and details, for example steel or aluminium. Metal can be powder-coated in various colours, creating a hard-wearing surface with good resistance to scratches, or chrome-plated for a more reflective finish.

There are also models with seats upholstered in leather, fabric or velvet. Textiles provide a softer surface and variation in colour and texture, while leather is durable and naturally evolves over time.

International designers of bar stools

NO GA’s selection includes bar stools and counter stools from both Scandinavian and international brands, featuring designs that combine functionality with material quality.

Cappellini offers bar stools such as the Ribbon High Stool, made from laser-cut metal with a powder-coated finish. The model is designed by the Japanese design studio Nendo and is characterised by a construction with a strong graphic expression.

The Jens bar stool from B&B Italia was designed by Antonio Citterio and launched in 2017. The model combines traditional references with modern material treatments, with a focus on proportions and construction.

Areas of use for bar stools

Bar stools are commonly used at kitchen islands and bar tables, where a higher seating position creates a natural space for meals and conversation. They can also serve as a space-efficient solution in smaller homes, where a bar table may take up less room than a traditional dining set.

Bar stools are also common in restaurants and cafés, where stackable models or durable materials can be practical for frequent use. The choice of bar stool can be adapted to both the proportions of the room and the need for comfort, for example through backrests, footrests or adjustable seat height.
