The family-owned company Ligne Roset was established in 1860 by Antoine Roset in Montagnieu, Ain, in France. It was a woodworking factory that quickly began to produce umbrellas, canes and chair frames. In 1950, in the post-war period, Antoine’s grandson Jean switched the company’s focus to furniture for public settings.

Tables, chairs, and beds are made for institutions such as schools, universities, hospitals, and guesthouses. The Ligne Roset brand first became established on the commercial market in the 1960s and 70s, when Jean’s sons Pierre and Michel joined the family business. Seeing an opportunity to revive the company, they began working with interior designers and designers such as Michel Ducaroy. Together, they launched Togo - an iconic model of the past that is just as relevant today - on the occasion of the opening of their first store in 1973.

First the idea, then the technology

Ligne Roset is known for its collaborations with both established and young talents in modern design, offering in their collections a whole lifestyle of both sober and bold styles of beautiful furniture, lighting, textiles, and furnishings. Another tradition that distinguishes Ligne Roset from its competitors is its dynamic and long-lasting designer collaboration deals with a focus on technological innovation. Creativity is a key value for the brand, which acquires the materials or production methods needed for the development of new products.

Past, present, and future collaborations include international designers such as Didier Gomez, Pascal Mourgue, Peter Maly, Pierre Paulin, Inga Sempé and the Bouroullec brothers. Ligne Roset is constantly evolving and has become a leader in the design world as it continues to explore the limitless world of innovative design.

Ligne Roset produces and develops its products in Briord, France, where the brand’s headquarters and factory have been located since 1973. Quality control is maintained and monitored throughout the manufacturing process, the final product being stamped with an external symbol of perfection.
