Big Bang is a wall and ceiling lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Vicente Garcia Jimenez and Enrico Franzolini in 2005. The design is based on a dynamic composition of intersecting panels that creates a three-dimensional structure with a distinct graphic expression.
The overlapping surfaces interact with the light, creating a varied pattern of light and shadow. The light is diffused and reflected between the different planes, enhancing the depth of the structure and highlighting its irregular geometry. The expression changes depending on the viewing angle and how the light falls on the different surfaces.
Big Bang can be mounted on either a wall or ceiling. The sculptural structure makes the fixture a distinct part of the room even when switched off, while the light adds another dimension to the form and creates a dynamic interplay of surfaces and shadows.
