Nile table lamp

Nile is a table lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni in 2022. The design is based on the meeting of two contrasting materials and volumes: a compact marble base and a generous hand-blown glass shade.

The solid marble base forms a clear contrast with the softer, more artisanal character of the glass. The two elements are arranged in a dynamic balance, with the large glass shade appearing to rest lightly against the smaller base. The construction creates a sculptural expression that changes depending on the viewing angle. The Nile table lamp combines the weight and natural texture of marble with the lighter visual expression of blown glass. The interplay between the materials, the different proportions and the seemingly floating composition gives the lamp a distinctive character centred on balance and contrast.
