Christo and Jeanne-Claude – 40th Edition Art Book

This art book brings together the visionary couple’s large-scale and temporary projects in an updated edition. The book functions as a biography, catalogue raisonné and visual documentation in one. The book contains hundreds of photographs, sketches and documents, with extensive imagery by Wolfgang Volz. Material from the couple’s private archives – drawings, letters, family photos – provides additional context.

The works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude are temporary in nature – monumental constructions that exist for a limited time and leave behind only the memory of a physical experience. From wrapped objects in 1960s Paris to The Floating Piers and The London Mastaba, their entire practice is documented here. The focus is also on projects in progress, such as The Mastaba in the United Arab Emirates and L’Arc de Triomphe Wrapped in Paris.
