1003 Hans 60 is a pendant lamp from Vaarnii in Finland, based on Hans-Agne Jakobsson’s iconic Scandinavian lighting design from the 1960s. The graphic, elemental form is combined with a warm, soft light that filters through thin layers of pine.
Vaarnii has further developed Jakobsson’s original construction using solid Finnish pine to support circular strips of high-quality pine veneer. The material’s natural tone and grain become a distinctive part of the expression, while the construction creates an interesting contrast between visual weight and actual lightness. The pine is used efficiently both to shape the lamp and to influence how the light is distributed throughout the room. The 1003 Hans pendant lamp 60 is part of Vaarnii’s reintroduction of three pendant designs by Hans-Agne Jakobsson, which are being put back into production after several decades of absence. The lamp is made in Finland and combines Jakobsson’s characteristic design language with Vaarnii’s focus on Finnish pine.
