Magneto is a floor and reading lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Giulio Iacchetti in 2012. The design is based on a simple yet functional construction in which magnetism is used to connect the lamp’s slender stand with the compact LED light source.
The magnetic attachment makes it easy to direct the lamp head in the desired direction, much like a flashlight. The light can therefore be focused where it is needed, making Magneto particularly suitable as a reading lamp. This flexible solution is also an integral part of the lamp’s visual expression. The Magneto floor lamp has a slender, pared-back silhouette in which the construction has been reduced to a few distinct elements. The combination of the slim stand, directional light and discreet magnetic connection gives the lamp a precise design language centred on function and construction.
