The Canvas Chair with cushion is designed by Børge Mogensen in 1970 for Fredericia Furniture. The chair's design language is reminiscent of the legendary Spanish chair with its wide armrests and sturdy construction. The frame is made of oak while the seat and backrest are made of canvas. A seat cushion in matching fabric is included for extra comfort. The natural materials highlight the function-driven design that has become characteristic of Mogensen. Horizontal and vertical lines create a sense of balance.
The Canvas Chair was designed as a reaction to the ostentatious furniture that dominated the 1960s. The chair feels just as relevant today as when it was launched, with its honest yet simple design language.
