Miss Holly – Stolab
The Miss Holly furniture series was designed by the architect Jonas Lindvall in 2011 for Stolab. The series is rooted in traditional Småland joinery and explores how solid wood construction can be refined for a contemporary environment. The form is based on a carefully developed geometry where generous proportions are balanced with a controlled expression.

Miss Holly
The Miss Holly series is characterized by its solid construction in oak, birch, or ash, depending on the furniture type. The solid materiality gives each piece a distinct presence in the room, whether it is a chair, bar stool, or dining table. Production takes place in Stolab's own joinery workshop in Smålandsstenar, an established hub for Swedish woodworking.
This craftsmanship ensures that every joint and curve contributes to a unity that is both visually robust and structurally durable. Jonas Lindvall's ambition to let the material speak is reinforced by the surface treatments offered in the series. Depending on the wood species, Miss Holly is available in light matte lacquer, white oil, or natural oil, with each treatment affecting the furniture's expression and care over time.
Oiled surfaces develop a subtle patina and require regular oiling to maintain the wood's surface layer and resistance. Light matte lacquer provides a more protective layer and requires minimal maintenance. Clean with a lightly damp cloth and wipe spills immediately.
Miss Holly chair – proportions and ergonomics
The Miss Holly chair is constructed with an ergonomic starting point. The rounded elements in the seat and back are not merely design choices but also functional details developed to provide high comfort, especially during prolonged sitting. The distinctive back panel and the carefully tested seat depth provide support without the chair feeling heavy. With a standardized seat height of 44 cm, it works well with most dining tables. The chair is an example of how Scandinavian design handles the requirement for everyday use without compromising the formal expression.
For those seeking a higher seating position in the same design philosophy, the Miss Holly bar stool in solid oak is also available. It maintains the robust construction and is adapted for kitchen islands with seat heights of 62 cm or 82 cm.
Massiveness at the center with the series' dining table
The Miss Holly series also includes a dining table in various sizes, wood species, and surface treatments. The solid wood construction provides a distinct weight and is developed to function as a stable focal point in the room. The rectangular shape offers an elongated, clearly defined surface that suits both casual and more formal settings. Regardless of the dimensions, the table's clean geometry is a direct reflection of the series' constructive idea.
The solid wood construction of the Miss Holly table contrasts nicely with the thin veneer shell and chromed steel base of the Series 7 3107 chair, designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen. The combination unites Scandinavian furniture tradition with a lighter, more graphic expression. Wood against wood creates a natural connection, while the chair’s metal legs add a distinct modern tone that elevates the whole.
Material encounters and formal balance
The expression of the Miss Holly series makes it easy to combine with furniture and materials from different design traditions. The clear wood construction acts as a stable counterpoint to elements of glass, metal, or textile, and therefore fits into interiors where one wants to balance varied tactile qualities. The series can be integrated into both Scandinavian and international environments without losing its own character.
The chairs tie the room together through their well-developed geometry, while the dining table adds a defined surface that works with many types of seating furniture. Together they create a cohesive whole, but each part can also be used independently when one wants to highlight material honesty and constructive clarity.
