48 Sofa-Bench is a sofa designed by Finn Juhl. The sofa was presented at the Cabinet Makers’ Guild Exhibition in 1948. The characterful and sculptural forms make the 2-seater sofa easily recognizable as a work of the world famous Danish designer. The sofa embraces the seated person while the rounded surfaces are shaped to fit the resting body and its proportions. 48 Sofa-Bench is made of two types of wood, which has become a key feature of Finn Juhl's design. The sofa is available in an oak version with walnut armrests and legs and in a version made entirely of walnut. The organically shaped seat and backrest, clad in fabric or leather, are lifted from the frame in a somewhat ostentatious manner. Visually, this lifts the seated person and gives the illusion that gravity has been eliminated.

Even today, it is possible to see how far Finn Juhl was in his time. House of Finn Juhl has taken on the challenge of bringing 48 Sofa-Bench into the modern age while respecting the original heritage. Besides this sofa, 48 Chair was also launched in the same series in 2018.
