Cocktail Table was originally designed for Baker Furniture by Finn Juhl in 1951 but is today relaunched since 2009 by House of Finn Juhl. The table matched the sculptural Baker Sofa. The coffee table is made of either oak or walnut and has a veneer or high-gloss white laminate table top. The Cocktail Table is an elegant, three-legged coffee table and is an evolution of the Eye Table, which was designed three years earlier. Unlike the Eye Table, the Cocktail Table’s size is more generous. Despite its size, the table still feels supple and functional thanks to its organic and light shape without sharp edges.
The 1950s saw an economic boom in the United States. In Hollywood and among the new upper classes, cocktail parties became very popular. Finn Juhl was impressed by this newfound American extravagance, which he experienced through his new and influential American friends.
