Floor Reading Lamps

A reading lamp is a primary functional light source, designed to optimise precision and visual comfort during activities such as reading or working. Without adequate light, a relaxing moment on the sofa or by the bed can turn into an unnecessary strain on the eyes. Our assortment gathers international design that unites form and function. We present products where every detail, from material selection to light flow, has been evaluated for durability and good performance. We also show how a reading lamp can be both an architectural feature and a practical lamp.

Functional requirements for a good reading lamp

The perfect reading lamp should deliver light with precision and sufficient intensity for reading without creating glare. An ideal strength often lies between 300–500 lumens, providing a warm, white light that is easy to read by. To achieve this, LED lamps are often used, which provide energy-efficient and directed light. The optimal reading lamp should have an adjustable arm or a swivel shade that allows the light to be directed towards the book.

Floor lamp and wall lamp in international design

The placement of the reading lamp is crucial. A floor lamp is usually placed behind or beside the seating furniture, with an arm that can extend over the reading surface. Classic models like AJ by Arne Jacobsen demonstrate how strictly geometric design fits into a modern interior, where it provides both character and function.

For smaller areas or as bedside lighting, an adjustable wall lamp is often a perfect choice as it frees up floor space. Wall lamp models from Stilnovo show how materials like brass and black can elevate design to a sculptural level, which also makes them function as a great feature. Here you can find many different reading lamps to choose from.
