The family-owned brand Ligne Roset was founded by Antoine Roset in 1860 in Montagnieu, Ain in France, originally as a wood processing factory. The brand gradually established itself through the manufacturing of chair frames, walking sticks, and umbrellas. The post-war era brought a strategic shift, as Antoine's grandson Jean Roset moved the focus to furniture for institutions such as schools, hospitals, and universities. It was not until the 1960s and 70s, when Jean's sons Pierre and Michel joined, that Ligne Roset began producing furniture for the commercial market. Collaborating with designers initiated an era of technical and formal development that laid the foundation for the brand's international identity.

Ligne Roset distinguishes itself through its principle of letting the design vision take the lead, which often requires the development of new technical solutions.
