Mite is a floor lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Marc Sadler in 2000. The lamp has a tall, slender silhouette in which an innovative combination of materials forms both the supporting structure and the decorative expression. Mite was awarded the ADI Compasso d’Oro design prize.
The body is made of fibreglass combined with either carbon fibre thread or Kevlar®, which is integrated into the material and serves as both a structural and graphic element. The construction makes it possible to create the characteristic elongated form without a traditional internal frame. The result is a cohesive expression in which material and construction become a visible part of the design. The Mite floor lamp is available in two dimmable versions: one with integrated LED and one with a replaceable E27 LED light source. Both provide warm light at 2700 K and come with a dimmer, allowing the brightness to be adjusted to suit the room and situation.
