637 Utrecht is created by Gerrit T. Rietveld in 1935. It was designed for the Metz & Co Department Store in Amsterdam with the idea of creating a model that would be more market-oriented than before. The result was an armchair whose design is unique of its kind. The shirt is available in several fabrics with a visible blanktet stitching. The armrest and bottom of the seat provide the only contact surface with the floor. The 637 Utrecht has an original design with futuristic elements. The straight armrests in contrast to the otherwise soft shapes of the seat characterize the design. The charm of the chair and its past quality have made it a true classic.
