Wall Sofa was designed in 1950 by Finn Juhl and is today relaunched by House of Finn Juhl since in 2007. The upholstered sofa with its hand-stitched cover is a prime example of Finn Juhl's extravagant and original designs from the 1940s and 1950s. The sofa has a unique, powder-coated frame that is designed to be mounted on the wall, hence the name Wall Sofa. Thanks to this feature, the comfortable sofa works well in public environments such as museums and galleries.
Wall Sofa is a prime example of what sets Finn Juhl apart from other designers. The asymmetrical backrest seems to float like a cloud of René Magritte above the sofa, which also gives the illusion that it is floating. The parts are supported by an almost invisible frame, which together show how radically Finn Juhl expressed the surrealist forms that dominated the design and international art scene at the time.
