Beauty & function in brilliant form

When you combine the experience of industrial design with a passion for craftsmanship and respect for engineering, you get an exciting cocktail. When you add sophisticated, exclusive design, well, sometimes you can create something truly brilliant. In Bert Frank's case in a double sense.

Revolve Table Lamp

In 2013, Britons Robbie Llewellyn and Adam Yeats joined forces to create Bert Frank. A brand that designs and produces luxury lighting products at home in England. Robbie, with his design background, and Adam, the owner of a premium metal factory, have found a way to combine their skills and expertise in close collaboration, from idea to final product.

At Bert Frank, they explain their philosophy as follows: "A table or ceiling lamp is much more than a light source, it is also a beautiful object. Similarly, a lamp, no matter how exclusive the materials are, has no value if it can't also give you the light you need." And it makes sense that this basic philosophy, combined with top expertise from several different fields, results in products that are something out of the ordinary. As proof of this, Bert Frank has also been honoured by both Elle Decoration in the UK and the International Design Awards.

The range consists of lighting for all rooms, from small discreet wall and table lamps to ceiling lights of varying sizes, but also large luminous pieces to place on the floor. Often with an industrial touch and always of the highest quality.

Spate Table Lamp

The Shear table lamp from the collection of the same name was the starting point for Bert Frank, a lamp that works equally well in the workplace, at the side of the bed or simply wherever you need a light source. Timeless in its design, adjustable in its reach, and still one of the creative duo's own favourites. Many of the lamps flirt with the Art Deco design language, as in the Kernel ceiling light and perhaps most clearly in the Lizak series with its cylindrical domes in coloured glass with brass details.

All manufacturing takes place in the company's own workshop in Birmingham, a city with a long tradition of engineering and where the metal industry in particular has historically been an important source of livelihood. Never compromising on either craftsmanship or quality is of the utmost importance to the men behind Bert Frank and also a conscious statement in our fast-paced consumer society. These are lamps that will stay in your home and that you will live with - for a long time.

For inspiration, the duo refers to the artist William Morris and his simple but clear specification for the things around you: "Have nothing in your home that you do not either use or find beautiful." So simple, and yet so difficult to fulfil. But Bert Frank's lamps manage to fulfil both parts of that requirement, beauty and function, sophisticatedly brought together in each unique object.

De mjuka formernas revolution

The revolution of soft forms

It's as if a revolution has rolled in and taken over our homes. The same movement has also hit public spaces and not least our Instagram feeds. The revolution comes in soft shapes, with curved contours and it is as if all straight lines and sharp corners have been eliminated in favour of the opposite. The shapes are accompanied by materials that feel as inviting as a soft and warm fur on a chilly winter day or a knitted mohair sweater against bare skin.
