Marcus Mårtenson says

Here you can listen to artist Marcus Mårtenson talk about how he creates his art and the story behind each piece for "Self Promote or Die". Below are five audio clips where Mårtenson tells more about his process.

MARCUS MÅRTENSON INTRO

Marcus Mårtenson's work addresses contemporary issues such as consumption, addiction, surveillance and social media. In Mårtenson's hands, references to capitalist mass culture are transformed into scathing social criticism executed in a rich palette of pastel chalk on a wooden board. Word and image interact with a humorous twist reminiscent of cartoons and political satire. Mårtenson's work represents a network of thoughts and ideas centred on the existential crisis of modern, constantly connected consumerism.

Listen to Mårtenson talk about herself, her artistry in general and the exhibition Self Promote or Die.

De mjuka formernas revolution

The revolution of soft forms

It's as if a revolution has rolled in and taken over our homes. The same movement has also hit public spaces and not least our Instagram feeds. The revolution comes in soft shapes, with curved contours and it is as if all straight lines and sharp corners have been eliminated in favour of the opposite. The shapes are accompanied by materials that feel as inviting as a soft and warm fur on a chilly winter day or a knitted mohair sweater against bare skin.
