Unfolding Image+

The exhibition Unfolding Image (Konstnärshuset 9-18 September) was based on a collaboration between Koto Katoaka, a third generation folding wall master from Japan, and five selected artists based in Sweden.

Ylva Carlgren. Vikvägg: Utan titel. Vägghängt verk: Continuous separation

The concept was to explore the folding walls in a Swedish contemporary context, while keeping the deep respect for the craft intact. The choice of artists was based on how their respective artistic practices could interact with the folding wall and challenge its possibilities and limitations.

Now Nordiska Galleriet, together with the artists, is making a new version of the exhibition - a follow-up based on the idea that the natural context of the folding walls will be in the home environment. The artists have chosen one of their folding walls from Unfolding Image and placed it together with another of their own works in a room.

Unfolding Image+ can be seen between 8 October and 25 October in Nordiska Galleriet's showroom on Nybrogatan 11.

De mjuka formernas revolution

The revolution of soft forms

It's as if a revolution has rolled in and taken over our homes. The same movement has also hit public spaces and not least our Instagram feeds. The revolution comes in soft shapes, with curved contours and it is as if all straight lines and sharp corners have been eliminated in favour of the opposite. The shapes are accompanied by materials that feel as inviting as a soft and warm fur on a chilly winter day or a knitted mohair sweater against bare skin.
