Orrefors decor

Orrefors is a Swedish brand that manufactures crystal glass with Scandinavian design of the highest craftsmanship. The company was founded as an ironworks in Småland in 1726 and grew during the 19th century to become a world leader in art glass. The production of the high-quality glasses began as glass jars for preservation. As social movements began to take hold and the idea of beautiful everyday details in the home began to take shape, artists Simon Gate and Edwalds Halds were invited to the factory. Gate and Halds would go on to produce several series of beautiful glass in various forms.

The brand's history starts from simple raw materials such as lime, sand and soda and has since grown to become a world leader in glass. All glass is made at the glassworks in Småland, where skilled craftsmen work alongside some of Sweden's top designers. Orrefors has a long tradition of working closely with innovative designers such as Erika Lagerbielke, Ingegerd Råman, Lena Bergström and Lisa Hilland.

The elegant glassware in colour and engraving is spreading all over the world. Praise for Orrefors glass is proclaimed in 1925 at the famous World Exhibition in Paris. Since 1989 the brand has been part of Orrefors Kosta Boda AB and from 2005 also part of the New Wave Group.
