Poul Henningsen, also known as PH, was one of the most important figures in Danish cultural life during the interwar period. He not only pursued a career as an architect and designer, but was also a professional writer and critic.

As an architect and designer, Henningsen was one of the most ardent proponents of functionalism. His most famous product is the so-called PH lamp. It is seemingly very simple and uses the phenomenon of light refraction. Henningsen designed the PH lamp as early as 1925, but it is one of the most famous lamps in the world today. It was in 1925 that Henningsen's lifelong collaboration with the lamp company Louis Poulsen came to fruition. For them, he also designed other well-known luminaires such as the PH Kotte and PH Glob.
