Rosenthal GmbH is one of the most traditional and yet most modern brand companies in Germany. At the age of seventeen, Philipp Rosenthal traveled to America, where he began his career as a dishwasher and then advanced to porcelain salesman. Back in Germany in 1879, full of drive and enthusiasm, he established his business by founding a porcelain painting firm in Erkersreuth Castle in Selb. Philipp Rosenthal made the decision in 1891 to start producing his own porcelain. The newly established porcelain factory made its mark thanks to its technological innovation and contemporary design. The visionary business leader was constantly in search of new ideas, as reflected in his motto: "I have no use for anyone who cannot see beyond the garden fence."
