Destination for designer furniture
Nordiska Galleriet opened in Gothenburg in 2018, but the furniture store has a history that goes back much further than that. The foundation was laid in 2002 when the store, then called Sköna Rum, opened in the historic Amerikahuset building. In 2017 Sköna Rum was acquired by Nordiska Galleriet and in 2019 they moved into their new premises in Mölndal. These premises also have a long history linked to interior design as Skinngruppen was housed here for many years. Today, the Gothenburg store is run by the second generation of furniture dealers since brothers Gabriel and Fabian Gimdal took over the family business.
- I have always had a dream of building a destination where people can come and find everything for their home, says Gabriel Gimdal, CEO. "That possibility did not really exist in the previous premises, we needed more space to be able to realize our vision.
Today, the store and showroom consist of a 2,400 square meter exhibition with furnishings for all rooms in the home, but also for offices and public environments. The landmark, the large sofa on the roof is still there, but in an updated version in the form of the iconic Big Mama.
- Our showroom should be an aesthetic space, a living and inspiring one. Today, I feel that we have finally reached our goal and can offer a complete world-class furniture house. Here you will find everything from the best Italian design, through kitchens, bedrooms and outdoor furniture to details for the entire home.
On site in the showroom are interior designers with expertise in different areas. Customers can get help with whatever they need, whether it's creating an entire home or a specific room.

Our salespeople and interior designers are genuinely interested in the customer no matter what they want to buy and help them find the right thing. We deliver your furniture, we assemble it, and we are there for you even afterwards if you need our help.
