Alanda coffee table from B&B Italia is an iconic table designed by Paolo Piva in the early 1980s. The coffee table has now been recreated as a tribute to Piva who passed away in 2017. The Alanda coffee table is a design classic with a design that mimics a group of upside-down pyramids that give support to the glass top. The table is available in square or rectangular form in either extra-light or transparent glass with a lacquered black steel base.
Paolo Piva was interested in industrial design and was one of the most prominent Italian architectural designers of the late 20th century. Piva studied architecture and art at the International University IUAV in Venice. During his career, Paolo has collaborated with several major brands and the Alanda coffee table is one of his most famous works.
