280 Zig Zag was designed in 1934 by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld and is characterized by the zigzag pattern consisting of four pieces of wood, which together form a stable construction. With an embossed design, Zig Zag is a chair that gives the interior an exciting expression and can be used both as a dining chair or a relief chair in the hall or bedroom.
The chair is available in two types of wood, made of natural cherry wood or natural ash, with the latter variant available in color-stained designs. For the stained chairs, the edges have been left unstained, which means that the natural grain of the wood forms a decorative contrast to the color. The chair was put into production in 1976 and is part of Cassina's Rietveld collection.
