The 646 Leggera chair with slanted seat from Cassina was created by Gio Ponti in 1952 and put into new production in 2017. Leggera 646 is available in several versions, choose between a frame in untreated or natural ash and stained black or white with a seat in natural, white, or black wood. The chair adapts easily to different environments while remaining light and comfortable, which is why it is called Leggera, which means light in Italian.
When Gio Ponti designed Leggera, the aim was to create a chair that would stand firmly without having a traditional wooden cross between the legs of the chair. The successful result was Leggera, which with its simple wooden frame and straight lines was unique when it came onto the market and has since come to represent modern Italian design.
