The 556 Sengu Sofa was created by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina in 2020. The sofa offers high comfort thanks to its generous volume and has an attractive design with simple shapes. The sofa has been designed with inspiration from the Orient with its open shapes, a recurring expression in the designer's design. The structure of the sofa consists of a belted steel frame finished with two wooden beams that hint at Japanese design. The ergonomics of the sofa are enhanced by the soft folding of the backrest and armrests, characterized by an external quilting.
We offer the sofa in a variety of high quality fabrics and leathers to choose from. Thanks to a study conducted by Cassina LAB in collaboration between Cassina Research and Development Center and Polidesign at Polytechnic Milan, a 100% recycled fiber, made from PET extracted from the sea, has been developed and is present in the sofa's padding.
