The PK25 chair from Fritz Hansen was designed in 1951 by Poul Kjærholm. PK25 was Kjærholm's graduation project at the School of Applied Arts in Copenhagen and has also been known as The Element Chair. PK25 shows that Kjærholm was influenced early on by industrial forms and materials in his design. The idea behind the chair was to use only one whole piece of each material, which gave the chair a stripped-down look.
The frame is made in one piece without joints and has a chrome-plated matte finish. The seat and backrest have been created from a long line of linen and nylon wrapped around the frame. The seat is available with black or natural colored cord. The PK25 was the basis for Kjærholm's iconic PK22, with which he won the Grand Prix at the Milan Triennale
